Carnon Carers Group Christmas Lunch with the Mayor

The Town Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Evans, welcomed the Carnon Carers Group to the Council Offices this month for a Christmas Lunch. The Carers provided the food and the Mayor provided the refreshments.

The Town Mayor said ‘We had the most fantastic lunch which was all homemade by each of the members of the Group. I even got to try Russian Cream for the first time which was truly delicious. I was honoured to be able to provide the refreshments for the Group who provide a fantastic support network to members of our community’.

Falmouth: ‘Punching well above its weight’ at International Urbanism Awards

Entrepreneurialism and an innovative approach to Town Management put Falmouth in the spotlight at the prestigious 2013 Urbanism Awards in London on Friday 9th November.  Shortlisted for The Great Town award for the very first time, Falmouth was singled-out for its highly effective Town Team (the Falmouth BID and Falmouth Town Council) who work alongside many town partners, whose drive and professionalism was credited as an excellent example of good urban practice. 

Community creates safe space for those in need at night

Saturday 10th November saw the introduction of a new partnership and night time service in Falmouth’s town centre.

Falmouth’s Safe Space scheme provides help to those who need it late at night whether through drink, drugs, an incident or medical need.

The Falmouth Safe Space scheme will operate from the Methodist Church foyer on The Moor every Saturday between 10.30pm and 3am, and ensure that vulnerable people are cared for in a safe, well-equipped and secure environment.

Dog Control Orders – Kimberley Park and Falmouth Cemetery

Falmouth Town Council will look to ensure compliance with the Cornwall Council Dogs on Lead by Direction Order in respect of Kimberley Park and Falmouth Cemetery.  At both sites irresponsible dog owners have caused issues for other users trying to enjoy those sites.

This means that if a dog causes a nuisance and the owner fails to put it, and keep it on the lead, then it is an offence and they will be liable to either a fixed penalty of £80 or can be prosecuted with a maximum fine of £1,000.

Falmouth to Honour Britain’s Armed Forces Past, Present and Future

The Town Council is delighted to announce that Falmouth will host Cornwall’s Armed Forces Day on Saturday, 22nd June 2013.

Preparations are already well under way and a Working Party has been formed to ensure that the day will be a high profile event that can be enjoyed by Armed Forces past and present and future.

Falmouth Town Shuttle Bus Passenger Notice

With effect from Monday 3rd September the fares on this service will change.

The service can only be provided with the assistance of a significant amount of funding from Cornwall Council and Falmouth Town Council.

The single journey fare will remain at £1.00 (50p for Children) however this will be charged for each journey made during the day.  A new All-Day ticket will be available for fare-payers, at the rate of £2.00 (£1.00 for Children), representing superb value for money!
