Alan Rowe was born in Redruth Maternity Unit in 1967 and has spent almost his entire life living and working in Cornwall.

He moved to Falmouth in 1993 but spent his formative years living in Truro. Alan attended Bosvigo Primary School and Richard Lander Comprehensive and 6th Form before leaving formal education at 18.

Alan has had a range of jobs including hospitality, gardening and marque erector before going back to Agricultural College in Rowewarne to train as a Tree Surgeon in 1995. He pursued that career until Sept 2000 when he took on a role as a Tree Officer in Carrick District Council before transferring to Cornwall Council in 2009. When Carrick DC ceased to exist, Alan moved to Plymouth City Council in April 2021 as an Operations Manager dealing with arboricultural issues.

Alan has a life long love of learning which culminated in him being awarded a BSc (Hons) in 2007 from the University of Central Lancashire.

Alan continues to use his arboricultural skills and knowledge to support the Falmouth Tree Champions group that he set up with fellow Councillor Debra Clegg.

Alan has a strong volunteer ethos and helps to support a local choir, the 6th Falmouth Sea Scouts and the Young Generation Theatre Group as well as undertaking his voluntary role as a Falmouth Town Councillor.

Alan is a single parent with a full time job. He has a strong community focus and hopes to continue the work that FTC do in supporting locals with a diverse range of needs and to keep Falmouth the vibrant and inclusive community that it is.

Alan feels hugely privileged to be elected Mayor and takes the role very seriously. He has the utmost respect for colleagues and is looking forward to continuing the important work that those before him started.
