Falmouth is currently twinned with the Communities of Douarnenez in France and Rotenburg Wümme in Germany and enjoys active annual exchange visits.

At the Annual Council Meeting in May 2024 Falmouth Town Council voted in favour of pursuing official twinning links with the community of St Nazaire in France to further strengthen our historical links with the French port town.

Twinning discussions are currently taking place and it is hoped that formal links will be established very soon.

What is Twinning?

‘Twinning’ is about meeting people. It’s about promoting international friendship in a world where people are tolerant of what is different and where people are creative about the differences.  It’s also about showcasing what Cornwall, and Falmouth in particular, has to offer.

Twinning is administered on behalf of the Council by The Falmouth Twinning Association. If you would like to get involved with Twinning or if you are in education, have a business, sport or any other venture that may benefit from closer ties with Falmouth’s ‘Twins’, then please get in touch with the Falmouth Twinning Association.  You may just want a pen-pal to practice a language. If so, they can help.

Please note, you do not need to speak French or German in order to be involved with Twinning.
