Below are all the key dates you need to know for the Local Council Elections 2025

14 March 2025Councillor Nomination Packs Available from Falmouth Town Council offices. See our Become A Town Councillor page for more information.
2 April 20254pm deadline for submission of nomination papers to Cornwall Council.
2 April 20254pm deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers.
3 April 2025Statement of Persons Nominated (an official notice of all those persons standing in Local Elections will be sent to local Clerks and displayed/published on our website and social media).
11 April 2025Deadline to register to vote.
14 April 2025Deadline to register to vote by post.
23 April 2025Deadline to apply for Voter Authority Certificate.
23 April 2025Deadline to apply to vote by proxy.
23 April 2025Notice of Poll

If the number of candidates standing does not exceed the number of seats on the Council there will be no poll and a notice will be issued. The notice will confirm the names of the incoming Councillors who will take office on 6th May 2025.
Thursday 1 May 2025Polling day.

Polling stations are open 07:00 – 22:00. Voters must present valid identification in order to vote.
Thursday 1 & 2 May 2025Count and results.

The Count will take place after polling stations close at 22.00, with Cornwall Council seats being counted first. The results of local council elections will be published on Cornwall Council’s website as each count is completed.
6 May 2025Change of Council.

This is the first day on which summons can be issued to Councillors for the Annual Council Meeting.
6, 7, 8, 13, 14 & 15 MayFalmouth Town Councillor Induction Sessions starting at 6pm.
12 May 2025 Informal Constitution Meeting at 6pm.
19 May 2025Inaugural Annual Council Meeting at 7pm at Princess Pavilion.
