Line
Line is one of the seven elements of art, along with colour, form, shape, texture, value and space. It is most commonly associated with drawing but is actually fundamental in all mediums.
Artists create lines by drawing, painting, printing, bending and shaping materials or positioning a camera. They are used not only to define shapes and figures, but also to portray motion and emotion, or guide our eyes through an image.
This exhibition follows the lines in the Falmouth Art Gallery collection and explores the many uses of this deceptively simple element.
