Recycled Books to Seaweed Presses

We’re thrilled to announce that our first Splanna! session launched on Thursday, September 19th, with an amazing turnout!  Over the next few weeks, we’ll be diving into a range of exciting projects, all while making the most of some beautifully recycled hardcover books, generously donated by Falmouth Library and Flicka Donkey Sanctuary.

We’ll be repurposing every part of these books—from the covers to the pages. With the book covers, we’re crafting handmade flower presses, while the pages will be transformed into eco-friendly seed bombs. We’ll also be using images and sentences from the books to create stunning collages.

We’ll soon be joined by members of The Seaweed Institute. They’ll be leading an incredible seaweed printing workshop, where Splanna will be using their handmade presses to create even more stunning artwork. Stay tuned as we continue this creative journey, blending sustainability with artistic expression. If you haven’t joined us yet, follow along on this blog!
